Terrified...

What´s going on? Where am I?

The last of America

--- Head Note: As stated below, I reactivated my blog, but I still suck at HTML and now I have to find out again / remember how to arrange Pictures etc. Sorry for the really awful looking post, however it will take me some time before I have it all up and nice, so might as well get the pics out now. High-tec and Low-Jack were never the best friends... ---

I finally solved the technical issues around my blog (thanks kerleone) and therefore hereby decleare it to be still alive. As a quick side note, I probably do not have a huge audience in the first place, but it seems non-germanic speakers may be on the rise, so I will Keep posting in english for now. Apology to all the dschrmens out there, but I know you appreciate the exercise.

To then come to the Point. We are moving on. Yes, there were some ominous postings by me on Facebook before but now it is final. On May 8 we will be leaving the US and start all over again in Japan.

Before we are heading out, we took a last vacation and went down to the City of San Diego, which is located just next to the Mexican border (www.google.com). Actually we wanted to go to Yosemite, but it was snowing and bad, so we decided in favor of the beach. So from here, I will actually let the photos speak...

  1. Starting Point: American Hot Dog at a regular Joint. This is how you start your american vacation!

  1. Glory to the US-Military: The USS Midway is an airplane carrier, stranded in San Diego. Louie trained to be Pilot and all that fun. Oh yeah, and we re-enacted the famous kiss at the end of world war 2.

  1. Entertainment-park with life animals: In the Seaworld-park , we saw some amazing Shows including animals, Louie trained to be a Flamingo, Noemi gave a Flamingo a head-shake and Overall it was great fun. Also, looking at those yummy Desserts always makes me feel all funny on the inside.

  1. San-Diego site seeing: The rest of San Diego was checking out Souvenir Shops (we bought a really nice wind chime, don't know why, but there was a shop with a huge selection...). We also went into prison in the Police Museum (we were allowed to leave after "donating" some Money)

  1. San Diego-Zoo: The Zoo of San Diego is supposed to be one of the largest Zoos in the world. It is the largest I have ever been to and there is buses to carry you arround and sometimes drive over pedestrians (but that's normal in the US). Best Moment was, when Louie sat down in the Zoo-shop and started reading a book ("Hey, this is actually more fun.")

  1. Beaches: What would this Kind of slide selection be, without some obligatory Pictures of the beach. The water was really icy and the wind pretty chilly, too, but hey, it is San Diego and all and we always feel sunny in our hearts. Or whatever. Also there were some Sea Lions.

  1. Back home: After Noemi drove us home (she had so much fun while we scared ourselves to death), we went to an "Easter Egg Hunt" Event today. Very interesting. Kids line up around a designated area which is filled with plastic eggs. Then on the Count down (Ten, Nine, Eight etc.), all the Kids sprint inside and start collecting the eggs. In the end, the easter rabbit tried to grab Noemi (doesn't he look like he is enjoying himself...) but she managed to escape.

And thus, our days in the US are nearing their end. Well, it certainly was a nice time and who knows, when we will be back (which we might) or how we like it in Japan (which we might also). Anybody who still wanted to visit us: Sorry, probably too late by now. But hey, try Japan or if you are in Japan, please wait a couple of more years and we will probably go somewhere else again.

The Odyssee continues.

If Japan, on some subconscious level, didn’t fear the machine,
it would never have its corner in cyberpunk culture.
On the other hand, it would have nothing to fear from the machines
if they weren’t so damn good at making them.

    Times of Change
Last weekend I visited my grandparents for the last time. After the death of my grandmother last year, the house was sold and all the art was moved into a storage room. It was very strange to see those familiar places, already almost empty. The storage room was then full...

    Hannah Arendt sagt:
